Handover Majuwa drinkig water project

The Majuwa drinking water project has been completed and handed over to the village community

The Provincial Honorable Minister for Health and Social Development attended the official inauguration and handover ceremony for  the Majuwa drinking water  project on 1 August 2026 in Kankrabari as the guest of honour.  The program was also attended by several representatives of the local authorities, including the Mayor of Banepa Municipality and the Chairperson of Ward No. 14, Banepa Municipality.

The ceremony, which took place on a small scale with just a few invited guests, was presided over by the Chairman  of the Water Consumer  Committee.

Unfortunately, due to heavy rainfall, the planned tour of the individual structures (spring intake, storage tanks, pumping station) could not take place.

Now that work on the drinking water system has been completed, individual households can apply to have their homes connected to the system. Around 20 per cent of the connections have already been made.

The presence of senior government representatives , local authorities, community members and representatives of interest groups lent this ceremony particular significance.

Representatives of our partner organisation, Society for Each Other (SEO), received letters of thanks from the Minister in recognition of their work and tireless commitment to this project. The project was submitted by ProNepal eO. to the Autonomous Province of Bolzano for funding in 2024. The Autonomous Province of Bolzano has pledged to provide 70 per cent of the funding.

Now, all the accounting documents and technical reports relating to the project’s completion must be collected and submitted to the Autonomous Province of Bolzano so that the final instalment of the funding can be paid out.
